I would like to request consideration for deleting the following items. I am requesting this consideration because I believe that the availability of entry level housing is important to ensuring that all residents of Knox County have the opportunity to pursue the American Dream of home ownership.
Sec 53-33. – Definitions
(e) “Affordable housing” means housing where the total monthly cost, including rent or mortgage, does not exceed thirty percent (30%) of the gross monthly income for households earning at or below eighty percent (80%) of the Area Median Income for Knox County as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, adjusted for family size.
Sec 53-25. – Exemptions.
(a) Affordable Housing Exemption
Single-family homes purchased or held exclusively for the purpose of providing affordable housing as defined in Section 53-33(e).
