Commissioners,
Thank you for the robust discussion on Knox County’s finances and my proposal to repeal the wheel tax.
Commissioner Hill suggested moving the debate and consideration closer to the annual budget season when we might have a clearer picture of our sales tax revenues through the holidays and close-out of the FY’25 budget / audit.
I’ve consulted with the Finance Dept. and Mayor Jacobs on the timing, and indeed, by March we should have a clearer picture of the local economy and revenue collections as well as a preview of the FY’27 annual budget.
As such, I have requested ordinance 0-25-8-102 be moved to the March agenda for continued discussion.
