      Fellow Commissioners

I submitted a proposed new zoning ordinance for Data Centers. Commissioner Thompson expressed interest in co-sponsoring this item, which will first appear as a resolution, and I would be happy for other commissioners to co-sponsor. I was provided a Consumer Reports survey statistic that claims 78% of Americans are somewhat or very concerned about data centers being built that will result in energy bills going up. This issue crosses party lines; Americans of all political persuasions are overwhelmingly concerned about data centers. My understanding is that the noise and aesthetics are a problem as well power and water usage.

Mike Moyers informed me that the ordinance first has to go through planning commission, and we will first have to pass a resolution asking planning commission to make a recommendation on this proposed language.

I would be interested in co-sponsoring. I know a few TN counties have already put restrictions on this. The environmental impact is very high especially to area lakes and water levels. Our lakes are part of what makes this area so desirable.
